Rhapis excelsa or Bamboo Palm

DESCRIPTION

The plant Rhapis excelsea is a palm tree native to China and Vietnam, popularly known as bamboo palm, Chinese palm tree or rapis. This plant is perfect for indoors with lots of light or outdoors in semi-shade.

CARE

Temperature: Very hardy, tolerates a wide range of temperatures and can withstand frosts down to -2 °C.

Light: Semi-shade - Indirect natural light. It needs to be located in a place with good lighting, but never with direct sun.

Watering: Frequent in spring-summer and moderate in autumn-winter. Water without puddling the pot, it does not tolerate waterlogging. It appreciates high ambient humidity, so it needs spraying or the use of a humidifier.

Abono: Fertilisation from spring to the end of summer with a fertiliser for green plants. The frequency of application will depend on the product, but normally one application every 20 days is sufficient.

Transplanting: In spring or early summer every two years or when its size exceeds that of the pot. A light, well-drained substrate is recommended.
