Description

Olea europaeacommonly called olive, olive tree, olive tree or olive tree, is a small evergreen, long-lived tree, which can reach up to 15 m in height, with a wide crown and a thick, twisted trunk. Its bark is finely fissured, grey or silver in colour. The leaves are opposite, 2 to 8 cm long, lanceolate with a slightly pointed apex, entire, leathery, glabrous and dark grey-green on the upper side, paler and densely scaly on the underside, more or less sessile or with a very short petiole.

    • Transplanting: It is recommended to transplant Olea europaea every 2 to 3 years, preferably in spring before the active growth of the plant begins. It is important to use a slightly larger pot than the previous one and to make sure it has good drainage holes to avoid waterlogging of the substrate.

    Please note

The olive tree is a slow-growing plant and may take several years before it needs transplanting. However, some signs that it is time to transplant it are:

    • The roots look like they are not growing well.
    • The roots look tight and protrude through the drainage holes.

    * The indicated size is indicative. It is an approximate height calculated by averaging the height of several specimens. As living beings, each plant has its own shape and growth rate and therefore the measurement cannot be taken as exact.

    * Some plants that have flowers and/or fruits may not have them at the time of purchase. Since flowering, fruit production and even foliage production is seasonal, it may be the case that the time of purchase does not coincide with these flowering or fruiting periods, which does not imply that the plant has a defect or deficiency.
