Dieffenbachia
DESCRIPTION
Dieffenbachia is a genus of tropical plants of the Araceae family. More than 30 species of the genus Dieffenbachia are known and are highly prized for their variety of colours and leaf shapes. They are native to South and Central America in humid tropical areas. Also called dieffenbachia, with me no one can, pita.
Scientific name: Dieffenbachia spp.
Curiosities: the sap of the plant is quite toxic so it is advisable to keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
CARE
Light: it can be used as a houseplant, it tolerates low light areas very well, but will grow faster in areas with abundant indirect light. Direct sunlight can cause the leaves to burn.
Temperature: temperate temperatures between 18-30°C and high humidity. It is recommended to avoid placing them in areas with cold draughts.
Substrate: They require light and aerated substrates, such as substrate for green plants, quality universal substrate or a mixture of substrate with perlite.
Watering: Moderate watering. It is best to let the substrate dry out a little between waterings.
Fertilizer: Apply a dose of ideal fertilizer for green plants / houseplants diluted in the irrigation water once every 2-3 weeks during spring-summer.
